Show Me The Money

I don’t care how GOOD your marriage is, you need to know where the money is.

I’m amazed at how many women say, “Oh, my husband handles all that.”

Okay…but do YOU know what “all that” is?

Do you know what’s in your checking and savings accounts? What you owe on your house? What retirement accounts you have? Life insurance? Credit cards? Car loans? Investments? Do you know what your monthly bills actually cost?

And do you have credit in YOUR own name?

This isn’t about planning for divorce or hiding money from your husband. It’s about being a grown woman and knowing your own financial situation.

Because divorce isn’t the only thing that can change your life overnight.

Your husband could get sick. He could die. He could lose his job. YOU could lose him unexpectedly and suddenly be responsible for finances you’ve never touched.

Know the passwords. Know where important documents are. Understand your insurance. Check your credit. Know what you own and what you owe.

And have some money set aside.

You can have a wonderful marriage, trust your husband completely, and still be financially educated about your own household.

“I let him handle everything” sounds great…

Until one day he can’t.

Know your money.

Know your household.

Know how to take care of yourself.

You may never need that knowledge—and I hope you don’t.

But you should HAVE IT.
